Scope
End-to-End Workflow & Modeling
The Mandate: Build South Korea's first cloud-based alternative investment platform from scratch. Working as a Business Analyst alongside an incredible veteran Investment Banker (the Product Owner), we translated rigorous institutional finance mechanics into a comprehensive enterprise software solution for alternative investment firms.
The Complexity Problem
Alternative investment firms in South Korea were managing massive capital maneuvers through fragmented, offline tools and legacy spreadsheets. There was no unified, cloud-native solution capable of handling the rigorous mechanics of fundraising, loan amortization, and cash flow returns.
The B2B Enterprise Strategy
Bridge the gap between elite institutional finance and software engineering. We had to extract complex domain knowledge from investment bankers and systemize it into scalable, intuitive SaaS architecture that Korean financial stakeholders could trust.
01. Decoding Financial Mechanics
"You cannot build financial software by guessing. Working directly under the guidance of our Investment Banker Product Owner, my job was to translate complex financial realities into executable engineering logic."
- Designed the logic and UI/UX for complex financial features including cash flow returns, precise loan amortization schedules, and end-to-end fundraising management.
- Continuously wrote highly granular user stories and acceptance criteria to ensure the engineering team met strict financial compliance standards.
02. Project & Product Management
"Building from zero required wearing multiple hats. In the initial stages, I operated as the sole Product Manager while simultaneously managing project operations."
- Assisted in the preparation of core resources, budget forecasting, and defining the overall project timeline.
- Coordinated daily development efforts between the UX design team and technical engineers to maintain high-quality, on-time delivery.
Aligning Across Borders & Departments
Enterprise B2B software is rarely derailed by code; it is derailed by miscommunication. Building a platform for the South Korean market required constant, rigorous alignment between international stakeholders and local development teams.
- Defined and finalized all platform features working directly with Korean stakeholders.
- Regularly communicated across internal departments to unblock technical constraints and solve complex business problems, ensuring the final product mapped perfectly to Korean market expectations.
💡 Fun Fact: The Maximalist UX Paradigm
A fascinating takeaway from this project was navigating the stark contrast in regional UX philosophies. Western design principles champion minimalism and whitespace. However, I had to completely recalibrate for the Korean enterprise market, where extreme information density wasn't considered 'clutter'—it was a strict requirement. A functional dashboard meant every corner of the screen was utilized. A standard financial table wasn't simplified; it required 60 columns and 20 active filters. Learning to design 'maximalist' interfaces that handled immense data density without breaking usability was a masterclass in cross-cultural product management.
Execution & Responsibilities
As Business Analyst & Acting PM, I managed the platform's lifecycle from early budget planning to feature design. I authored user stories, defined complex financial mechanics, and aligned UX and Engineering teams with our Product Owner's institutional vision.
